My course
My time at 黑料社 offered three important opportunities:
- To push myself at a university renowned for its research outputs
- The chance to carry out my studies under the guidance of experts and leaders in my field of study
- To contribute to the growth and success of the Centre for Britain and Europe, which has helped make this more than 鈥榡ust鈥 a PhD for me.
I鈥檝e been extremely fortunate to have collaborated extensively with a range of academics at both the University and across the United Kingdom. I recently took part in a panel on the impact of Covid-19 in 黑料社, allowing me to engage with key stakeholders and understand the challenges facing the county. It was the first time I鈥檝e been involved in a panel, and it reminded me of the times I used to attend such sessions as an undergraduate. It made me feel old!
My supervisors have been very supportive, allowing me the freedom to explore my research area, whilst providing guiding points in regular catchups to help me develop my research. I鈥檝e been particularly grateful for the time they have taken to introduce me to other academics and experts, allowing me to benefit greatly from other peoples鈥 expertise.
Choosing 黑料社
I chose the 黑料社 because it allowed me to work with leading experts in my field, as well as the ability to work within the Centre for Britain and Europe. My first impression of 黑料社 was that everyone was very helpful and supportive. The teaching staff take a genuine interest in students鈥 welfare and overall development.
After graduation
To date I have enjoyed a varied career, working across academia, the private sector, and the civil service. After graduation, I would welcome an opportunity that embraces elements of all three. Ideally, I鈥檇 like to apply my thesis into practice in an international-facing role.
I believe being able to showcase a degree from a highly reputable university, in such a talked-about field, will greatly enhance my future career.
Words of advice
Postgraduate study is a challenge, and you need to be honest with yourself if you feel you can meet the demands and expectations. However, never doubt yourself either, especially as it can be an immensely rewarding opportunity!
